Questions to Ask a San Diego Wedding Photographer (Before Booking!)
Your San Diego wedding photographer will be with you more than almost any other vendor on your wedding day, which makes choosing the right one incredibly important.
Asking thoughtful questions helps you find someone who not only takes beautiful photos, but also supports you, understands your vision, and makes you feel comfortable. Here are questions I recommend to make sure you find the right fit!
These questions are meant to help you find *your* San Diego Wedding Photographer, which might be me or might be someone else! If you want to learn more about me, hop on over to my website to see if we’d be a good fit. Or checkout my blog about what it’s like to work with me!

This is especially important for:
You want someone who truly understands your dynamic and how you want your day to flow.

Make sure you understand:
Transparency upfront prevents surprises later, which aren’t a fun thing to have for your wedding! What might seems standard (like full gallery download rights) for some photographers is an up-charge for others. While this will all be in the contract, it’s muuuuch easier to learn it before getting to the contract stage.
Some photographers lean heavily posed, others documentary – most fall somewhere in between. This all depends on their overall photography style and approach to guiding the day. For me, I will tell my couples that I give guidance for posed photographs and never interrupt interaction for “the perfect shot.” I think your day shouldn’t feel like a production!
Ask how they:

Many photographers (myself included) support with:
That extra support can make a huge difference. As a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I am particularly aware of sometimes complex family dynamics and energies. It’s my job to protect my couples from dealing with any unwanted energy on their day!
Your photos are irreplaceable, and you probably want to know how they’re protected.
Ask about:
Editing style matters just as much as shooting style. It’s okay to ask how flexible they are and what consistency looks like for them! Some photographers have a very clear editing style that they don’t adjust. For me, I love adjusting editing style to match the vibe for each couples – staying grounded in a true to life, timeless style.

Your photographer is there for all of your day and has a huge role in how you relive the day later.
You should feel:
Connection and the vibe you share matter just as much as talent.

Choosing a photographer you truly vibe with will show in your photos and in how you remember your wedding day.
